Projects are becoming more challenging, complicated and complex than ever before; and yet, the project manager must be able to respond decisively to whatever situation they face and no matter when they face it.
Now, more than ever, project managers have to be certain about the uncertain and comfortable about the uncomfortable and be agile in their approach to leading their teams.
The difference that will make the difference is not just the ability of the project manager to manage his or her project, but the ability of the project manager to transition from project manager to become an agile project leader.
In this highly entertaining and engaging story-telling presentation, Paul will explain what were the 'seven lessons' he learned about leadership from aged 17.
The story begins from when he joined Siemens as a 'Youth Training Scheme' Trainee, and he talk of the seven leadership lessons that he applied to his projects that helped him to transition to become an agile project leader.
Paul intertwines his personal as well as his professional life experiences and the lessons he learnt, that he firmly believe can be applied to all projects by all project managers as they make the transition to agile project leader.
Objectives:
- To demonstrate that it is vital, if project managers are to ensure sustainable and positive project outcomes for their team, their sponsors, their stakeholders, their customers, for society and their country; that they must adapt from being a 'project manager' to be able to become a 'project leader'.
- To demonstrate that all project managers have the ability to lead, but that not all project managers believe in their ability.
- To support the 'Leadership' component of the PMI Talent Triangle and of PMBOK 6th edition, as well as the International Project Management Association (IPMA).
